“Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return.” ― Leonardo da Vinci
Have you ever flown? I don't just mean on a plane or in your dreams. I'm talking about using your imagination to fly when you're stone-cold sober, awake and not high on anything other than life. Or are you more the practical type and keep your feet firmly pegged to the ground? I think Leonardo's right: Once you've flown, there's no being satisfied with walking, running or even leaping again. Can't walk, run or leap from NZ to NY no matter how fabulous your heels. Unless they're Dorothy's.
One of the most important ways to learn to fly is within ourselves, using our imagination. We know there's so much more out there if we can just learn how to work through the layers of doubt, fear and anxiety. The places we'll go if we muster up the courage and just do it, take that leap, push ourselves off that way-too-high-a-cliff, developing our inner wings as we're furiously flapping about mid air. It's quite good to get pushed, too, once you've worked through the shock of being pushed, that is.
Just like I taught #MontyModelDog to swim by pushing him into a stream. I know, I know. Sounds means. Well, he wasn't going in by himself. Now he's the water dog of all water dogs.
JAIMEE's a girl who wants to fly, both literally as well as within herself, always pushing herself to make sure fear of failure doesn't weigh her down. Failure or falling, to her own admission is her biggest fear. I think fear of failure and falling is one of the biggest challenges facing young people today. Oh who am I kidding? There's no age limit as to fear of failure. We're all terrified of it!
So when JAIMEE was scouted by my scouting partner AMANDA BRANSGROVE, I took some pics of her for fun, pushing her to let herself go. She was so good at posing I showed a few pics to JETSET BOHEMIAN owner (and super-babe) KIRSTEN. JAIMEE was immediately booked for an online lookbook (MODEL SPEAK: lookbook is the collection from a desinger in a catalogue usually at the counter) all from her first few pics.
Not bad for a first attempt! And she didn't fall.
We asked JAIMEE a few of the BIG QUESTIONS, and we couldn't agree more with you on your fave inspirational saying.
So congratulations, JAIMEE! Keep flapping and flying!
